Sara Grinzato

Art conservator and historian.

I studied Conservation of Cultural Heritage at Ca' Foscari University of Venice and obtained a postgraduate diploma in Art History from the University of Padua. I subsequently obtained a professional diploma in restoration at the Veneto Institute for Cultural Heritage in Venice, further specializing in numerous specialization courses.

As a restorer, I specialize in oil paintings on canvas and wood, and polychrome and gilded wooden artifacts.
I am a professional in compliance with the requirements of Article 182 of Legislative Decree No. 196 of January 22, 2004. 42, qualified for sectors 2, 3, and 4. (LIST OF RESTORERS OF CULTURAL HERITAGE PURSUANT TO ART. 182 OF LEGISLATIVE DECREE 42/2004)

I am an independent researcher, with great focus on Venetian artistic expressions in the modern era, with a focus on the 18th century ( https://professionisti.beniculturali.it/elenchi ).

I have published articles in specialized journals and monographs. I am registered in the list of Art Historians, Band 1, pursuant to Ministerial Decree 244 of May 20, 2019 (https://professionisti.beniculturali.it/elenchi ).

I work in a wide range of conservation fields, including exhibition setup assistance, condition report preparation, and transportation assistance as a courier. I have collaborated on the installation of important exhibitions in Venice and abroad. Working both in restoration and art history, I am deeply convinced that a work of art is not merely an aesthetic experience, but a material that conveys history. It is the material that synthesizes the information it carries over time.

Conserving this material means safeguarding the message it contains.

Ensuring future generations can enjoy the material of art is a challenging task, fraught with great responsibility, which the restorer embraces with patience and dedication.
